Why Have We Asked For This?
Tesco’s commitment to the environment and to improving sustainability with regards to its packaging is made up of four parts:
1. To reduce packaging weight by 25% over the next 3 years,
2. To increase recycled content
3. To improve recyclability
4. To reduce the carbon footprint impact of packaging
The data you provide will enable us understand how we can achieve this commitment.
The Role of “Pack.NET”
“Pack.NET” will deliver the data that will help us define a baseline, become a measure of calculating our progress, provide a history of our packaging trends and also highlight opportunities to meet our environmental commitment.
The Task
We understand that this is a sizable task for some suppliers and we wish to express our appreciation for all the effort you are making to provide this information. However, we have noted that some suppliers have not been able to meet their dead-lines in submitting this information. Can I request you to do all you can to adhere to these given time-lines as it affects the critical path of this project.
We would like to encourage you to complete the data for high volume items as a priority and also upload the data that you have already completed. You do not necessarily have to wait to collect the information for all the items before you upload your form. Doing this will enable us to start analysing this data.

1. Why does one have to fill in data for old items?
- This will enable us to track the packaging transformation of particular items.
2. Some of the items being supplied currently are not on my list?
- We will be running quarterly updates and new items will be subsequently captured on these.
- If, there are items supplied prior to Aug 2007 and are not on the list, kindly email , so that we can look into the matter for the next run.
3. Some of the items on the list are not supplied by me?
- Please inform the helpdesk of this and they will allow you to complete those lines pertaining to you only
- Also kindly email andy. with the lines affected so that we can correct this for the next run
